Well ya'll I did get several things done today including making husband of mine an old recipe from my teenage years (can tell by my kid style handwriting) called Praline turns out to really be a no bake. But this time something did not go right and it was sticky and does not want to really set up nice and firm. Must have been too much PB.Thinking back over the process I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the measurements. I use the 'dump method', most of the time anyway and just eyeball it. Just like my mother and grandmother and great grandmother taught me. This time I just didn't 'eyeball' it close enough. Husband eats them anyway cause they taste really good and he needed a chocolate fix any way. I put a few more things up on Craig's list. A few of my ACEO art cards went up tonight.
I am planning to when it finally quits raining to go out and photograph my old 1972 van and put it up for parts. It is nothing to look at but it has a race car engine and trany and read-end in it. A 350 4 bolt main. And it has 5 really rare chrome mag wheels on it from the small bolt pattern Buick Riviera of the same year. I've got several items going up next week as soon as I can get them photographed. Most are out in the trucks. Another time I'll tell you why I know so much about engines and wheels and such. Somebody once said I reminded them of the girl in My Cousin Vinny ;-)
Husband of mine just came in saying come to bed. I'll also tell ya'll more about the cookbook I'm working too later.
See ya'll on the Internet!

Monitor fade to black
This week I have done A LOT! Sold my old faithful 1982 Chevy caprice classic, and a few other items on Craig's list. Yeah for Craig's list! Then when I was fixin to list some more items my 10 year old computer monitor faded to black and burned, well almost, it started crackelin, popin and smellin like burnin plastic! I was throwin things out of the way to get to the surge protector to get it unplugged and turned off before it burst into flames! It must have been a funny site.
My computer has been a good one! I had her built in 1999 by Compaq. This model was not released to the public until Sept 2000. I had her built so she could be upgraded many times before I had to get another whole computer. Since that time she had been upgraded 3-4 times. My friend from church Travis helped fix it twice or 3 times when it got sick and needed repair. Then when it needed and up grade or 3 he did those for me, too. He does great work but moved back out west for graduate school when he finished college here. I found them (Travis, April and their brood) on Facebook a few months back. I was happy to see how well they were doing, even though we miss them at church here.
Thankfully this new monitor is compatible with my trusty computer. And the graphics card was large enough to handle, so far, this wonderful 19 inch flat HD wide screen monitor. MAN does this look good. Better than my old monitor even when it was new. Course this one is a wide screen and a 19 inch vs a 17 inch. And the space this one doesn't take up vs how MUCH space the other on did! I am very very pleased with this new one. Gratefully we had sold the car so we could get this really nice one. It is so much brighter and clearer than I imagine the old one was. Even lookin at the old one was a strain. Unfortunately the old speakers don't work so I'll have to get some of the plug into the surge protector kind. The old speakers were powered by the monitor and this new one is not designed that way. I don't like a silent computer. They make me nervous. I like one that makes sounds and I programed mine to make all kinds of conversational noise with me with all sorts of different types of sounds. Not just those Microsoft goofy sounds. For example, I have Radar from the old MASH TV show tell me when I have emails by saying Mail Call! It's fun.
It sorta was an emergency to get a monitor right now since I still have items listed on Craig's list. And on Freecycle, too. By the way, if you want to keep items out of the landfill, Freecycle is definitely the way to go. It gives you a place to share what you have and don't want and get other peoples trash for your treasure. FREE!
I was 'green' long before that was the word for it and way before it was cool to be that way. Back then we that did as I have always done were called weird and strange and sometimes hippy, cheap, old fashioned and a lot more, Now it is just cool.
More about that later. Right now, I gotta go list the old monitor on Freecycle , speakers and all.

just thinkin again
Hi ya'll,
I was just thinking again (dangerous huh?) I wanted to talk about myself (ha ha) Yes really, I really just wanted to brag. I got published! Yes, I know I am published here on the Internet but I 'inspired' Southern Living Magazine with a recipe on page 118 in the March 09 issue. My only problem with this recipe is not even my recipe anymore. I am glad to have my name in the finest southern magazine ever, but I would have preferred to have it attached to my own real recipe. Maybe they actually did improve it. I can't say cause I haven't tried theirs as they wrote it, cause my microwave died and I decided not to get another one. I did tonight however make theirs in my stainless steel waterless cookware pot. [Somebody remind me to tell you the story of how I got the cookware later.] Husband of mine said it was not as good as mine. He’s prejudice to my cooking and prefers my sweeter version.
And mine never had leftovers no matter where I took it. The kids in the family that don't like carrots love my carrots. Who knows? Ya'll try my carrots and see what you think. I try to always use organic ingredients.
The original carrot recipe is as follows:
Bag of baby carrots or a pound of carrots washed topped and tailed and chopped I like to cut mine slonchwise AKA oriental cut cause they cook faster.
1-Tablespoon butter melted or your favorite light tasting extra virgin olive oil
1/4-cup real maple syrup, grade b (best for you)
bunch of fresh basil, chopped
Toss the carrots with the butter or oil until the carrots are shiny in a microwave proof dish with a lid. Then pour the maple syrup over carrots. Sprinkle liberally with chopped fresh basil. Nuke for 5 minutes or longer to desired doneness. It takes a little longer in the cookware.
Let me know what ya'll think. Pride goeth before a fall. Theirs might be better. I hope I don't get in too much trouble with the Lord braggin on my self.

I love my husband, children, church, cooking, Sci-Fi, gardening, genealogy, photography, reading, singing and so much more. So everyday you might find me talking about any or all of my favorite things. I am southern so you will after this post get to see that with my family colloquialisms. Funny, old-fashioned and frugal about describes me. If you know me and can think of anything you want to ask me email me and I'll try to answer here.
Well that is a pretty good start for today. See ya'll later.
